I am using my blogs1 as my Personal knowledge base per a suggestion from Bill Ives (co-author of What blogs and wikis bring to business and knowledge management). Bill Ives, a non-HP employee, and KM Industry Leader, spoke at HP's KM Lead bi-weekly virtual meeting on January 25, 2006 about What blogs and wikis bring to business and knowledge management. He really inspired me to pursue blogs as a solution at work. I am also using blogging as a means of sharing knowledge with my teammates. I am very excited about what I am doing with my blogs on the HP-Intranet (RSS feeds available from planet.cv.hp.com). I have taken the HP Blogging Class2: HP Blogging Guidelines and Policies (32395). I also have a number1 of blogs on the Internet. In my opinion, Blog and Wiki technologies are merging. In March 2007, I started the new blog HPUXTroubleshooting at blog2.cv.hp.com and plan on drafting troubleshooting information there, and then publishing at HPedia, a MediaWiki for, and about HP, on the HP Intranet.

It is designed to help HP employees make the most of blogging’s potential by providing basic guidelines, recommendations, and best practices for participating in the blogosphere in a manner that supports HP corporate culture, commitments, and legal obligations.

Blogging

• Determine the purpose of your blog. At the very least, it can be used for your personal knowledge base, journal, etc (Why I Blog.)
• Make some choices:
  • Choose an editor application*. For example, because you can’t always just depend upon a blog’s editor, to have all the features you want/like/need, etc.
  • Choose a blog, from various blog providers**. Try out several, and then choose one that appeals to you (e.g. for ease of managment, appearance, etc.)
  • (optional) Choose a photo hosting provider***, so that you can post pictures there, and then link to them from your blog.
  • (optional) Choose means of earning money****
• Starting Blogging.
• Enjoy.

I live in Rocklin, California (USA): 38n47, 121w14. According to Myers-Briggs, I am an INTP. I grew up in Sacramento /Carmichael, California, went to El Camino High School (1974-1978), and got a Bachelor degree in Computer Science from The University of California, Berkeley (1978-1983). I have worked at Hughes Aircraft Company as an Engineering Coop student (January - August 1981, and Summer 1982) and as a Software Developer & HP-UX System Administrator at Hughes from 1980 through 1988. As a Senior UNIX Systems Administrator at Trident Data Systems, in Los Angeles and Sacramento, Sept 1988 - April 1998. Make Someone Happy

On Sunday December 23rd, 2007 at 2PM, we saw a play at B Street Theatre called "Make Someone Happy".

Just saw National Treasure: Book of Secrets (with Nicolas Cage). Saw Spanglish (with Téa Leoni and Nicolas Cage) last night. Now I want to watch The Family Man (with Nicolas Cage and Téa Leoni).
